Harmony OS
We have heard about the Harmony OS as an Android replacement
operating system on Huawei phones for a long time. After going through a series
of tests through the public beta version, Huawei is now ready to launch the
final version of it’s operating system. The final version of Harmony OS is will
be launch in June 2021.
According to Wang Chenglu, President of the Chinese
technology giant's consumer business software department and director of its AI
and smart business department, the company will roll out the HarmonyOS (also
known as HongMengOS in China) update starting early June. The smartphone models
that will receive this upgrade are still a secret. It is likely that series
such as the Mate 40, P40 Series and Mate X2 series will be among the first
recipients of this operating system update.
Although it will only be launched in June 2021, Huawei plans
include other devices as well to migrate to Harmony OS. It is expected that much
of older models or series from this company, including the Honor smartphone
will receive updates as well. Huawei aims to be able to move all of its devices
(more than 200 million devices) from Android to Harmony OS by the end of this
year.
Harmony OS is Huawei's operating system designed not only
for smartphones, but also across platforms, meaning that it is designed to be
uniform and work seamlessly with other smart home products that support Harmony
OS.
Previously, Huawei announced Harmony OS 2.0 for smartphones
for the first time at the Huawei Developer Conference 2020. Harmony OS will come with a stable version in
June 2021. Ahead of its launch in June, Huawei has released a demo video
showing the performance of Harmony OS 2.0 on a Huawei smartphone.
The various enhancements that Huawei has made are clearly
visible in the video. Starting from the speed in opening applications that are
much faster than on Android phones. The Harmony OS 2.0 display still adopts
EMUI 11. So that you will have no trouble using a Huawei cellphone when
upgrading to Harmony OS.
Interestingly, Harmony OS 2.0 can support Android
applications, so this phone can still be installed or used Android applications
smoothly.
